Structural change and agricultural resource allocation in rural Thailand
Outline
This study aims to analyze the impact of social structural changes in rural Thailand on the allocation of agricultural labor and land, using both quantitative and qualitative data. We focus on the fact that while the agricultural labor force is rapidly aging and the rural area is urbanizing, the distribution of farm size has not changed significantly. The study examines the mechanism that preserves small farms in Thai agriculture during rural structural change, taking into account the role of agricultural policies. Implications for agricultural sustainability and production efficiency are also discussed.
