Finding Materials

Journals
  • Recent additions to the library's journal holdings can be viewed in the Journals Corner located on the 1st floor.
  • See Lists for the titles of all journals.
  • Journal shelves are arranged in alphabetical order by country or region of publication.
  • Back numbers are kept on the 1st floor's journal shelves. Issues published before this are bound and retained in the retractable shelves on the 4th floor.
Newspapers
  • You can read newspapers from several developing countries on the 1st floor.
  • Newspaper shelves are arranged in alphabetical order by country or region.
  • You can read newspapers on microform in the Microform Reading Room located on the 1st floor.
  • Use the Catalog of Newspaper Holdings to search for newspapers on microform. You can also view the bound catalog.
  • Ask at the counter about newspapers not yet on microform.
Microform Materials
  • You can view a microform collection containing about 2000 titles of newspapers and journals from developing countries. The Microform Reading Room is on the 1st floor.
  • Use the Catalog of Newspaper Holdings to search for newspapers on microform. You can also use the bound catalog which features the same contents.
  • Microform materials are held in closed stacks. Fill in the call number, year, etc., of the materials you want to view on the library entry slip and present it to staff at the counter. A staff member will retrieve the microform.
  • Microform must be set in the microform reader-printer to be read. A staff member will do this for you.
  • Return microform materials to the counter on the 1st floor after you have finished reading them.
  • You can request microform copying at the counter on the 1st floor.
Maps
  • Use the Map Catalog to search for maps.
  • Maps are held in map lockers. Fill in the call number of the map you want to view on the library entry slip and present it to the staff at the counter located on the 1st floor.
  • You can request map copying at the counter on the 1st floor. Please be aware that the copying process takes some time.
Video Materials
  • Video materials can be viewed in the AV Materials Viewing Corner located on the 1st floor. See Lists for titles. You can also search in OPAC.
  • Fill in the call number of the video materials you want to watch on the library entry slip and present it to staff at the counter on the 1st floor. A staff member will retrieve the materials. You will receive headphones at the counter.
  • After watching the video, rewind it and return it to the staff at the counter.
  • Video materials cannot be copied.
