Empirical Analyses of Culture: Impacts of Culture on Individual Behaviors, Attitudes, and Subjective Well-being
Outline
In this research project, we empirically examine the effects of culture (values, beliefs, norms, patterns of thinking and reactions shared by a certain group) on individual behaviors, attitudes, and subjective well-being (SWB) such as happiness. Each member will write an empirical paper on their respective theme, with the aim of publishing it in a peer-reviewed journal. Specific themes of the paper include: (1) cultural differences in time use and its effects on SWB (with particular focus on East Asia), (2) comparison of SWB between Central Asia and other transition countries and the cultural influences on SWB differences, and (3) the effects of culture on individual attitudes toward refugees (with a particular focus on Turkey).
