The US-Sino Trade War and the Transformation of East Asian Economies (2020_2_40_011)
Outline
East Asian economies have experienced a drastic structural change since the U.S.-China trade war. In terms of production, various industrial sectors have been rapidly transferred from China to neighbouring countries. In terms of technology, China has been forced to build an innovation system based on non-U.S. technologies. These had great influence on the international division of production and innovation labour within East Asia. In this research project, we clarify the impact of the U.S.-China trade war on East Asian economies from the perspectives of politics, international relations, global value chains, and innovation.
