No.682 Impact of new technologies on the organization of global value chains (1): dynamic transformations within global value chain typology

ABSTRACT

This paper is one of two articles that consider the impact of new technologies on the organization of global value chains (GVCs). The c urrent paper considers value chains in two representative industries, namely, the automotive industry and electronic equipment industry, and the other forthcoming paper will examine the apparel industry and material processing industry. The study draws on the analytical framework developed by Gereffi et al. (2005), who presented a GVC typology and mechanism of value chain transformation.
