An Empirical Analysis of Cultural Differences in the Happiness Concepts
Outline
Subjective well-being (SWB) response scores, such as happiness and life satisfaction, vary greatly from country to country. It is said that cultural factors, in addition to each country's political, economic, and social circumstances and institutional factors, are behind this. This research project focuses on these cultural factors, particularly cultural differences in the concepts of SWB. Specifically, using time-use data and the accompanying multiple types of SWB data, we will analyze what SWB people value and how these SWB concepts differ depending on individual attributes and culture.
