Vulnerability, Reorganization, and Consolidation of the Rentier States in the Middle East
Outline
This study analyse the ongoing reorganization of governance regimes in the rentier states of the Middle East. Since the 2010s, factors such as the increase in the population of citizens and fluctuations in oil prices have impacted the sustainability of rent revenue. Currently, these countries are undertaking reforms to move away from rentier governance regimes and build sustainable governance regimes. In this study, we examine the changes in the political and economic structures surrounding Middle Eastern rentier states, the history and functions of political and economic institutions, and the actions and relationships of various actors, aiming to explore new rentier governance regimes.
