Application and Analysis of the OLG Model Regarding the Social Security System in Thailand
Outline
In recent years, the introduction of Basic Income has been gained attention as a new social security system with the potential to address growing social disparities and economic instabilities. In particular, the emerging and developing countries has been facing entrenched income disparities and the structural issues related to political economies have hindered flexible policy formation, making it more difficult to implement conventional welfare systems. Additionally, the operation of conventional systems faces significant challenges due to their complexity and the lack of sufficient resources and infrastructure. Given these circumstances, the flexibility of Basic Income is increasingly being seen as a promising solution.
This study aims to explore the feasibility of introducing a Basic Income system and to analyze its economic impact on growth and stability in Thailand. Specifically, we will first study the basic theory of Basic Income, followed by an examination of the theoretical foundation of the Overlapping Generations (OLG) model. Then, we will attempt to construct a theoretical model that can be applied to Thailand's economy. Through this study, we aim to identify challenges that can be addressed and make progress in preparing for future empirical analysis.
