Cuba's External Policy during the Period of Normalization of US-Cuba Relations: Cuba's Survival via Strategic Hedging
Outline
This project is aimed to show how Cuba's revolutionary regime successfully survived during the period of December 2014 and April 2017, when Cuba and the United States improved and normalized diplomatic relations. Cuba used strategic hedging policy among the United States, Russia and China in order to deter the treats of the United States which had declared to normalize relations with Cuba in order to encourage Cuba's democratization. Cuba succeeded in surviving without regime change, and this project will show that Cuba's strategic hedging policy is a key to its success for the regime survivlal.
