Comparative analysis of political regimes of ASEAN countries

Outline

This study is in the preparatory phase of a research project that will compare and analyse the political institutions of Southeast Asian countries, i.e., political parties, elections, parliaments, bureaucracies, and other institutions, to understand the characteristics of each institution in each country, and then to identify the characteristics of the political regime as a whole in each country. Of the 11 Southeast Asian countries, 9 countries will be considered for the study, excluding Brunei and East Timor, which are microstates. The proposer of this study group edited "Tounan ajia no hikaku seijigaku" (Comparative Politics in Southeast Asia) in 2012, which compares the political systems of five Southeast Asian countries. This research project aims to publish a substantially expanded and revised edition of the book.
