Multiple transformation processes in South Africa-Japan relations in the period of transition from apartheid to democracy(2020_2_40_009)
Outline
This study will analyse the processes of changes in South Africa?Japan relations in the late 1980s and early 1990s, which was the transition period from apartheid to democracy in South Africa. Following the transnational relations approach, which criticises the state-centrism in international relations theory and instead emphasizes the importance of non-state actors’ roles in international society, this study will examine not only the conventional government-to-government diplomatic relations between the two countries but also the roles played by non-state actors, including liberation movements, anti-apartheid movements, and business organisations.
