Scientometric approach to Japanese studies on developing countries(2020_3_40_001)

Outline

This project aims to make an analysis of citations in Japanese studies on developing countries using scientometrics and to thereby illustrate the structure of knowledge production as well as transitions of such structure. There have been few quantitative studies on Japanese humanities and social sciences including studies on developing countries. The reason is a lack of a database of citations in humanities and social sciences in Japanese. Therefore, this project will begin with building a database of citations in Japanese studies on developing countries. The database includes data concerning cited articles, such as types of publication, published years, and languages, etc. Then, we will conduct a citation analysis using the database. The first step is showing the fundamental structure of the citation-totaling data. The second step is demonstrating the images of the network in Japanese studies on developing countries and related areas via scientometric approach.
