The long-term effects of civil war in developing economies(2020_2_40_014)

Outline

This research project aims to examine the long-term impact of civil war on society and the economy in developing countries. Specifically, this project focuses on civil war in Cambodia during 1970?1998 and that in Nepal during 1996?2006. We empirically investigate the long-term consequences of civil war on economic activities for households and companies. By comparing the microeconomic consequences of civil war with varying intensities of economic damage, we provide formal evidence to improve policymaking in economic recovery policies. Thus, this project contributes to the academic literature on civil war and to evidence-based policymaking for recovery from civil war.
