Social Protection and Values: The Case of Turkey(2019_2_40_005)
Outline
This research examines the impact of social protection policy on social values. We argue that social protection policy changes social values through redistribution and clientelism. We chose Turkey for a case study, which expanded its social protection in the 2000s. In particular, the research addresses (1) citizens’ perception of rights and benefits as associated with social protection, (2) the relative impact of objective and subjective well-being on incumbent support, and (3) social values that determine support for social protection.
