Scientometric approach to Japanese studies on developing countries (2020_3_40_001)

Outline

This project aims to make an analysis of citations in Japanese studies on developing countries using scientometrics and to thereby illustrate the structure of knowledge production as well as the transition of such structure. There have been few quantitative studies on Japanese humanities and social sciences including studies on developing countries. The reason for this is the lack of a database of citations in humanities and social sciences in Japanese. Therefore, this project will begin with building up a database of citations in Japanese studies on developing countries. The database will include data concerning cited articles such as types of publication, published years, languages, etc. Then, we will conduct a citation analysis using the database. The first step is to show the fundamental structure of the citation totaling the data. The second step is to demonstrate overviews of the network in Japanese studies on developing countries and related areas via the scientometric approach.
