Estimation of Updating the Asian International Input-Output Table and its Applications to analyses of the Global Supply-Chains (2019_2_40_011)

Outline

The international input-output table (IIOT) plays an important role toward analysing the internationalization of production networks (global supply chains) as mainly observed between China and other countries in the Asia-Pacific region. This has been attracting increasing attention among researchers, practitioners, and policymakers. However, the construction of IIOT requires substantial time, and it is difficult to capture changes in supply chains/production structures in recent years. To overcome this problem, this study aims to compile an updated IIOT for the Asia-Pacific region—one that reflects recent changes in supply chains/production structures—and will conduct analyses on global supply chains in the Asia-Pacific region (e.g., by identifying the structures of industrial linkage and measuring the impacts of various policies on international production networks). The study also intends to develop refined methodology for updating IIOTs.
