Competition and Innovation: A Case of Chinese Companies (2019_1_40_004)

Outline

Innovation by companies in emerging countries has been rapidly receiving increased attention. However, it is significantly difficult to understand innovation activities and the results of such because the process of arriving at commercialization is complicated and because various factors, such as the characteristics of each company and industry, STI policy, the institution of IP, and the behaviour of competitors, etc., influence innovation activities. In this research project, we analyse technological differentiation through market competition while focusing on similarities and differences among the technological positions of competing companies, using the patent information of Chinese companies.
