Accountability of the Legislature and Executive in Arab Gulf States (2017_2_40_008)
Outline
This research project aims to argue the determinants which caused different consequences in regards to whether accountability reforms under authoritarian regimes with incomplete political participation and contestation promote the realization of democratic governance or whether the incumbents sustain and strengthen their control. To facilitate this discussion, we analyze the case of the Gulf Arab countries, especially of Kuwait, from the viewpoint of the correlation between the "strength" of the opposition regulated a degree of political participation and the contestation and responsiveness of the government.
