Globalization and Government Support in Turkey (2017_2_40_004)
Outline
Turkey shifted its development strategy during the 1980s from import substitution industrialization under a state-led economy to export-led industrialization under a market economy. The latter strategy was most accelerated by the Justice and Development Party (AKP) government that came to power in 2002. How does economic globalization affect political support for the AKP government and its policies? The current research reveals (1) the impact of public preferences for globalization on government support and (2) the role of globalist business associations in the formulation of foreign policy.
