Local Government Survey in ASEAN Countries: Review of Comparative Perspective and Data Processing(2017_1_40_013)

Outline

In some ASEAN countries, decentralization reforms took place simultaneously during the 1990's. Since after the 2000's, the local governmental bodies in these countries have assumed important roles in local development and public service distribution. In this context, this study aims to compare the functions and performance of local governments in Indonesia, Thailand and the Philippines by processing the survey data taken in each country from 2012 to 2014. By processing the data of each country for comparative use, this study will present a review of the perspectives, as well as comparative data on the issues concerning the local government performance in some ASEAN countries.
