Monetary Policy under the Floating Exchange Rate Regime in Chile (2017_1_40_012)

Outline
In Chile, the floating exchange rate regime was adopted in 1999, and a monetary policy framework to stabilize general prices and short-run output by controlling short-term interest rates was prepared in 2001. The experience of Chile, where a monetary policy aimed at stabilizing the value of the currency under the floating exchange rate regime was implemented relatively earlier than other emerging countries, is of interest. The research on monetary policy under the floating exchange rate regime in Chile will also have relevance when considering appropriate monetary policies for realizing stable growth in other emerging and developing countries. This research aims to understand the monetary policy under the floating exchange rate regime in Chile by researching literature, documents, and statistics.
