Political competition and civil conflicts in democratic states in Asia
Outline
This research project examines the impacts of political competition on conflict-ending processes. Civil conflicts in Asia have attracted less scholarly attention than those in Africa, but some conflicts in Asia are difficult to resolve under democracies, lasting for decades. This project investigates the association between domestic political competition and conflict-ending processes in three Asian democracies (the Philippines, Indonesia and Sri Lanka).
