Factors of digital agriculture diffusion in developing countries and their socio-economic impacts: A case of agricultural drone diffusion in Vietnam.
Outline
The purpose of this study is to identify the impact of the introduction and proliferation of digital technology on farm households and the rural society. This research takes the use of agricultural drones in southern Vietnam as a case. The use of drones is rapidly expanding in southern Vietnam in the early 2020s as a technological solution to the labor shortage problem associated with labor migration to non-agricultural sectors. The study focuses on the accessibility of rural households to drone use and its economic impacts, the emergence and changes in relationships among related actors and social institutions, and related policies that determine the extent of the socio-economic impacts of drone proliferation.
