Life histories of African migrants and refugees in Johannesburg, South Africa
Outline
This study attempts to depict the migration history of people from African countries living in South Africa's largest city, Johannesburg. Specifically, it takes people from four African countries - Malawi, Zimbabwe, the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Uganda - as case studies to explore whether geographical distance and immigration status affect the relationships that people from these countries build with South Africa. If so, what is the nature of this influence and what are the consequences?
