Political Rights of Persons with Disabilities in Asia(2020_2_40_027)
This study aims to clarify the status of political rights for persons with disabilities in Asia and to identify issues yet to be resolved, using the Convention of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities as the criteria for whether these rights have been realized. Do persons with disabilities enjoy the suffrage that is considered a basic human right in modern countries? Has accessibility been provided to ensure substantive equality in election systems, or have restrictions to their political rights been enacted? This study will not only examine the status of each country but will also try to find common issues in Asia through a comparative analysis.
