International Distribution between Mainland China and Taiwan(2021_2_40_010)

Outline

The 1990s saw the progression of the globalization of corporate activities and/or the international division of labor in Asia. As a result, a cross-country supply chain was built, international trade was expanded, and international physical distribution that supported the transportation of goods was developed. These movements were similar in Taiwan, which officially approved investment to Mainland China in 1991.

The international distribution between China and Taiwan was restricted until December 15, 2008, because the Taiwan government did not allow going to each other directly. However it has undergone a major transformation for the agreement of lifting the ban to three link types (direct trade, direct movement, and direct communication to/with China). This study will take up the international distribution between China and Taiwan and will examine not only indirect goods movement before 2008 but also the direct goods movements after the lifting of the ban to the three link types. International physical distribution is also affected by foreign trade and foreign investment by manufacturing companies. In this study, it will also examine trade and investment between China and Taiwan, along with the physical distribution policies implemented by the Chinese and Taiwanese governments.
