Transformation of agri-food supply chain and technology development in Vietnam(2021_1_40_005)

Outline

This research aims to examine the impact of transformation of the agri-food supply chain on the adoption and diffusion of agricultural production technology in Vietnam, where the spread of modern retail is rapidly advancing. In Western countries, the adoption of ICT for production and distribution management has become widespread as a measure for responding to the safety requirements of agricultural products and foods. On the other hand, this study focuses on the technical and institutional responses of producers in Vietnam, most of whom are smallholder farmers with lack of capacity to invest in capital-intensive technologies. This study also tries to analyze socio-economic impacts of adopting new technologies induced by the intrusion of the modern retail sector.
