Political Rights of Persons with Disabilities in Asia (2020_2_40_027)

This study will aim to clarify the status of realization of the political rights of persons with disabilities in Asia and to discover issues involving hindrance by using the UN Convention of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities as criteria. Do persons with disabilities enjoy the suffrage that is considered a basic human right in modern countries? Has accessibility been provided to ensure substantive equality in election systems, or, in contrary, have restrictions been posed on their political rights? This study will not only examine the status of each country but will also try to find common issues in Asia via comparative analysis.
