Develoopment of Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Export Industry in Peru (2020_1_40_002)

Outline

Despite the end of the commodity boom in Latin America, fresh fruit and vegetable (FFV) exports from Peru have been growing rapidly. While export crops are becoming diversified, export destinations are also expanding from North America and Europe to Asian countries. This is due to the continuous development of Peruvian industry to adapt to changing market and technological innovations. Using an analytical framework for industrial development, such as industrial clusters and global value chains, this research project aims to analyze factors and mechanisms of development regarding Peru’s FFV export industry. By re-organizing individual case studies published previously in Japanese, the author intends to write a brief book in English that analyzes the dynamic development of the FFV export sector in Peru.
