Challenges of digitalization for industrial upgrading; A case study of Thailand (2019_2_40_006)

Outline

This study will investigate challenges and policy support, including industry-government-academia cooperation, for firms in middle-income countries, with the goal of promoting automation and digitalization. This study will focus on the case of Thailand, which has been implementing its Thailand 4.0 policy so as to transform its labour-intensive industries into digitized ones. By conducting case studies and a questionnaire survey in cooperation with a Thai professor, this study will present the progress and policy challenges of digitalization in Thailand and will derive policy implications for middle-income countries toward promoting digitalization in the private sector. These study results will be used to publish a journal article.
