Production networks organized by multinational companies have led the expansion of intra-regional trade in East Asia. In this research work, we will examine the mechanism of economic development in this region from the perspective of global value chains. The research topics covered in this study include: triangular trade centered on China; spatial linkages and positions of respective countries/sectors in GVCs; value chains of specific industries; development of supplier industries; and value chains of high-tech exporting industries. These studies will be conducted with the use of international input-output data.
