The purpose of this research is to compare and contrast some aspects of the international migration of nurses from the Philippines and India from the perspectives of both the sending and receiving countries. Specifically, this research will (1) examine the impact of increasing overseas employment opportunities for nursing education and training, occupational status and choice of occupation, (2) analyze the determinants and processes of international migration, (3) investigate the economic and social impact of migration on nurse-sending households, and (4) explore the association of international migration and employment conditions/career development in nurse receiving countries.
