On Thursday, July 28, 2022, a delegation from IDE-JETRO paid a courtesy visit to Dr. Laksana Tri Handoko, the Chairman of National Research and Innovation Agency of Indonesia (BRIN). BRIN was established in 2021 by integrating governmental research institutes and policy research departments in the ministries.

IDE-JETRO has long been engaged in research exchanges with Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI), one of the institutes that was merged into BRIN. During this courtesy visit, BRIN and IDE-JETRO discussed the possibilities for further collaboration under the new organization.

Prior to the courtesy visit, IDE-JETRO and OR IPSH BRIN (Research Organization for Social Sciences and Humanities) held a joint workshop titled "Exploring research agendas on religious inclusivity and political opportunity in Indonesia." The delegation from IDE-JETRO also held a meeting with OR TKPEKM BRIN (Research Organization for Governance, Economics, and Community Welfare) to discuss possibilities for collaborative research.

As one of the leading institutes of Indonesian studies in Japan, IDE-JETRO will continue to strengthen its ties with BRIN.
