China’s OBOR Initiative and its Implication to Australia Economy

China’s One Belt One Road initiative has received much attention since 2015. The primary objective is to investigate the impact of One Belt One Road (OBOR) initiative on the Australia economy, in particular to mining industry in Australia. Empirical findings show that macroeconomic indicators in China have significant impact on the iron ore price movement, and consequently, the economic conditions in Australia is affected by the iron ore price. These results imply that Australia economy will be greatly benefited by the OBOR initiative proposed by the Chinese government.
