Previous research

My previous research focused on the performance of agricultural product markets and its welfare impact on farm households in Sub-Sahara Africa. The well-functioning of agricultural good markets is not only important to achieve food security for rural household but also to reduce poverty in rural areas. I used time series econometrics to analyze price transmission between domestic crop markets in Burkina Faso. Furthermore, I have examined the impact of crop markets performance on the adoption of yield increasing technologies. Lastly, I used quasi-experimental methods to analyze the effects of agricultural production on farm households’ food and nutrition security in Burkina Faso and Madagascar.

Current research projects

My current research topics: 1) Examine the drivers of intra-household decision making on human capital investment in rural Sub-Sahara Africa. This research tries to answer the following questions: i) How does the spousal bargaining affect the efficiency of this intrahousehold decision making on human capital investment? ii) How does the structure of the household (monogamy versus polygamy) affect the efficiency of decision making on human capital investment? 2) I am also interested in the microeconomic effects of armed terrorist armed incidences on agricultural production in Burkina Faso.
