The 4th Mekong Dialogue “The Water-Food-Energy-Climate Nexus: Revisiting Development in the Mekong Region"

IDE-JETRO has co-organized the 4th Mekong Dialogue with the Asian Center for International Development (ARCID), School of Social Innovation, Mae Fah Luang University on February 27-28. The Mekong Dialogue is a platform to discuss a wide range of complex issues such as environment, food, energy, and climate change in the Mekong River Basin. Initiated by ARCID in 2019, the dialogue marked its fourth year in 2022. This year, it was organized in partnership with IDE-JETRO under the theme: "Water, Food, Energy and Climate Change Nexus: Rethinking Development in the Mekong Region".
The event was attended by about 70 - 80 people, both onsite and online. NGO practitioners and researchers from the Mekong region countries (Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Myanmar, and Thailand) and related countries such as China, Japan, and Australia gave presentations about their activities and research under the themes such as international relations, water diplomacy, etc. In the final session, participants discussed the importance of sustainable use of the Mekong River and the potential for the development of a science-based platform.
