Previous research

My research focuses on a wide range of socio-economic issues in India, including migration, economic disparity, education, social policy, finance, disability, and environmental issues. Recently, I have been researching the international migration of nurses from India, which is a major supplier of nurses.

Current research projects

My current research projects cover two main areas. One is the mid- and long-term socio-economic changes in India based on tracer surveys in urban slums as well as surveys on livelihood and migration from rural areas. The other is international migration and career development in nurses and care workers, including tracer surveys of nursing college alumni in India, Indian nurses working abroad, and Indian nurses who have returned from abroad. These projects cover countries that send or receive nurses and care workers, from comparative perspectives.
