Previous research
After completing my Master’s degree at Graduate School of Arts and Science at the University of Tokyo, I entered IDE-JETRO in 2025 fiscal year. During my Master’s course, I started to specialized in political science, covering both subfields of international relations and comparative politics. Because my academic interest constantly focuses on states as a political actor, I applied econometric methods of panel data analysis to investigate political phenomena at the national scale. Since the latter half of my master’s course, I was further motivated to demonstrate my results using causal inference methodology.
Current research projects
After entering the IDE-JETRO, I shifted my focus to a more micro-level perspective and have been conducting research primarily on Vietnam's political economy. In particular, I am interested in foreign direct investment (FDI) and the political and economic phenomena surrounding it. My research comprehensively examines what factors attract FDI and what consequences FDI inflows bring.
The topic of foreign direct investment is deeply connected to a wide range of issues, from classical topics such as political regime and central-local government relations to more contemporary concerns like corruption and environmental problems. This makes it a highly rewarding research subject. Additionally, taking advantage of the wonderful environment at the IDE-JETRO, I hope to expand my research into a cross-national comparative analysis.
