International Symposium

Emerging Powers in the ‘Global South' and the Restructuring of the World Order

* This seminar will be held in hybrid style (in-person and online).

The registration is closed.

More than 30 years have passed since the end of the Cold War, and the world order has changed dramatically. The economic disparity between developed and developing countries, once known as the North-South issue, has been transformed by the rise of emerging economies that have achieved remarkable growth in the past two decades. Emerging powers in the ‘Global South’ are increasing their presence not only in economic terms but also in international politics and the diplomatic world.

This symposium will discuss how the emerging powers of the ‘Global South’ will influence the restructuring of the world order. Is the ‘Global South’ forming or capable of forming a new ‘pole’ n the international community? What kind of leadership will the emerging powers of the ‘Global South’ show in this new order? This symposium will also discuss how the rise of emerging powers of the ‘Global South’ will influence the international community’s efforts to cooperate and tackle global challenges.

We look forward to your participation.
