FY 2014/2015 Research Topic: C-15
Labor Market and Employment Issues in Vietnam

Outline

This study aims to collect and analyze basic information on the labor market and employment situation in Vietnam and to envisage the impact of new policy changes on the labor market.
Vietnam has been putting great effort into shifting its economic structure from an economy dominated by labor-intensive industries to a more technology-oriented economy, and human resource development is a crucial issue. On the other hand, Vietnam is facing challenges to the introduction of modern labor conditions, which guarantee various rights to labor.
In the near future, it will be inevitable for Vietnam to nurture human resources that serve as a basis for structural economic changes and to balance between inexpensive labor costs and good labor conditions. This study will evaluate if the present situation and new labor-related policies will serve to meet the requirements of the future labor market.
