特別講演会
開発途上国における都市・地域経済学に関する「IDEスクール」の開催について
「偉大なメンターと、斬新でアツい研究テーマと、そして若くて優秀な研究者が集まった『スクール』は、経済学の新しい未来を創る可能性があるのです」（英語原文をもとに報告者翻訳）
ジェトロ・アジア経済研究所は、開発途上国における都市・地域経済学に関する「IDEスクール」を開催しました。 IDEスクールは、深尾 京司 ジェトロ・アジア経済研究所長のこんな挨拶から始まりました。 深尾所長は自身の指導教官であった故 宇沢 弘文 東京大学名誉教授が1960年代のシカゴ大学在籍時に開催した「スクール」に、のちにノーベル経済学賞を受賞する若き日のジョゼフ・スティグリッツやジョージ・アカロフが参加していたこと、彼らがこうした機会によって自身の経済学者としての考え方を大きく高められたと後に述懐していたというエピソードを紹介しました。深尾所長は世代を超えた最先端の学術交流の重要性を強調するとともに、こうした取り組みの行く先に、新しい時代を切り開いていくような極めて良質で高度な研究が生まれる可能性があることを示唆しました。
IDEスクールは、同分野の世界的権威であるジャック・フランソワ・ティス教授（ベルギー・ルーヴァン・カトリック大学：ジェトロ・アジア経済研究所 上席主任調査研究員）を中心に企画され、東アジア、北米、欧州を中心とした世界各国から17名の多様な研究関心を持つ若手研究者が参加しました。ジル・デュラントン教授（米ペンシルヴァニア大学ウォートンスクール）、ディエゴ・プーガ教授（スペイン金融財政研究所）、岡崎 哲二 東京大学大学院経済学研究科教授、中島 賢太郎 一橋大学イノベーション研究センター准教授、大野 由香子 慶應義塾大学商学部准教授を講師、コメンテーターとして迎えるとともに、世界各地からの参加者が自身の研究発表を行い、白熱した議論が展開されました。ジェトロ・アジア経済研究所からは、橋口 善浩 新領域研究センターグローバル・バリュー・チェーン研究グループ研究員が講義を行いました。
ジェトロ・アジア経済研究所では、都市・地域経済学に留まらず、複数の研究テーマにおいて、目に見える研究の集積、研究ネットワークの形成と深化を図るべく、世界各地の研究者・専門家を招いた同様の学術研究カンファレンスや研究発信の取り組みを積極的に推進していく予定です。
