APLセミナー（アジ研パワーランチセミナー）は、アジア経済研究所の研究者のみならず、外部の研究者、学生の方にも参加いただけるリサーチワークショップで、お昼の時間にアジア経済研究所（海浜幕張）の会議室で開催しています。

研究所内外における研究者が研究成果、研究活動の中間発表を行うほか、発表者と参加者、あるいは参加者相互のディスカッションを行います。テーマ、講師に応じて日本語あるいは英語での発表、議事進行となります。

This paper investigates the impact of skill-based health education conducted in primary schools in rural Bangladesh through a randomized-controlled intervention. Given frequent critical views on the effectiveness of health education in promoting health, it assesses whether health education focusing on health-related skill-building can be effective in inducing behavioral change, especially in children, who are more amenable to such educational interventions. The health education is provided by locally recruited and trained para-teachers for the duration of one year, with the use of mini-projector. An additional cross-cutting soap provision is also implemented. The impact on health, practice and behavioral change is analyzed at both school and individual levels. Health education is shown to have a statistically significant positive impact on the hygienic practices at both the school and individual levels, and certain health status of children. Peer effects in treatment schools and positive spillover across schools are suggested for school hygiene practices.
