Analysis of Urbanization in Indonesia Using Village Census Data from 1999 to 2014
Outline
The main purpose of this project is to review the mechanism of Indonesian urbanization and its impact on the welfare of residents after democratization. Indonesia has experienced ongoing urbanization, and it is now estimated that over half of the population lives in urban areas. Using village census data from 1999 to 2014, we will make a quantitative analysis to draw conclusions for developing economies, focusing especially on 1) the effects of regional differences in the institution/policy on urbanization, and 2) the impacts of urbanization on the level of resident welfare and, consequently, the degree of inequality.
