Development Strategy and Green Economy in Thailand

Outline

This study analyzes the potential implications of Thailand's transition to a green economy as part of its development strategy. Thailand formulated its top-tier national strategy (2018-2037) in 2017 and the Bio-Circular-Green (BCG) economy model in 2021, positioning the transition to a green economy as a key theme of development strategy. The situation in Thailand, which is simultaneously working on the transition of income levels and the transition to a green economy, is different from what developed countries have faced in the past. This study investigates the relationship between the transition to a green economy and development strategies in Thailand, and focuses on the areas of environmental administration, investment policy, rural economy, international relations, and development thought to understand the significance and challenges of "going green" in development strategies from multiple perspectives.
