A Preliminary Investigation on Bottom-Up Rural Industrialization
Outline
Contract farming between firms in developed countries and farmers in developing countries has attracted much attention in recent years. It is important for farmers to shift to a more flexible form of contracting in order to improve their economic welfare. Due to the difficulty of guaranteeing quality and securing their own sales channels for this purpose, farmers often form associations to work on the issues collectively. This study aims to review the existing studies focusing on the role of associations in the development of agro-related industries. By doing so, we will prepare for launching a full-scale project in the next fiscal year and beyond.
