FY 2015/2016 Research Topic: C-41
Socioeconomic Impacts of the Proliferation of Convenience Store Chains in Developing Countries

Outline

The number of convenience store chains in developing countries is on the rise. There are several Japanese convenience store chains targeting developing countries in Asia. This phenomenon may have huge social and economic impacts on the daily life of common people in both urban and rural areas. For example, traditional grocery stores may be severely affected by the expansion of convenience stores into their territory. In this year’s study we will construct a theoretical framework for future convenience store studies.
