FY 2015/2016 Research Topic: C-15
Transition of the Vietnamese Family in the Doi Moi Period
Outline
Vietnam has been promoting modernization and industrialization since the first half of 1990s. With the development of modernization and industrialization, the environment surrounding the Vietnamese family has changed greatly. Several researchers have pointed out that the trend toward a nuclear family, declining birth rate, and weakened family education and socialization function for children has been progressing. In this working year, our research group will study the family dynamics, family strategies and family polices in Vietnam based primarily on an analysis of local materials and secondary materials.
