The Transformation of the Organization of Work and Human Resource Management in India in Association with Labor-Management Relations
Outline
Although economic growth has stagnated the past few years, India's economy still draws attention from around the world for its large market and potential. By using the micro data from two surveys conducted in 2000 and 2011/12 in Bangalore, India, this project attempts to empirically understand the recent developments and changes/transformations at the firm level in the organization of work (including work teams, QC, and TCM), labor-management relations, and human resource management (HRM) in India, as well as the relationships among them. It is also expected that some insights into India’s much-debated “labour reform” will be derived through the analysis.
