IDE-JETRO/UNIDO Collaborative Research Project "Asian Trade Standards Compliance Report: Analysis of Border Rejection Data in Developed Markets"

Outline

This research will examine the ability of East Asian countries to comply with trade standards. In the markets of developed countries, there is growing concern about the environmental and health impacts of various materials used in products. Subsequently, shipments of agriculture and food from developing countries are frequently denied entry into developed countries, resulting in missed export opportunities for developing countries. Similar to manufactured goods, production networks have been developed for agriculture and food products. Compliance with trade standards requires effort throughout the supply chain. This study will look at border rejection issues in supply chains.
