Acceptance of Other Researchers

Domestic Research Fellows

The IDE accepts talented Japanese researchers as visiting domestic research fellows for participation in our various research projects, with the purpose of qualitatively improving the research projects and promoting academic and research exchanges with outside researchers.

Domestic research fellows are not recruited openly, but are accepted only on the basis of recommendations from IDE researchers. The IDE bears no responsibility for paying any of our domestic research fellows salaries, stipends, or other associated expenses.

The maximum period of affiliation of a domestic research fellow with the Institute is one year.

Short-term Acceptance of Foreign Visiting Research Fellows

With the purpose of promoting international research exchanges, the IDE accepts competent foreign researchers (who are engaged in research on the economic or social development of developing countries, and have attained superior records of research performance) for a short period (of up to three months) on an ad hoc basis.

Such foreign visiting research fellows are not recruited openly. During their affiliation with the IDE, all foreign visiting research fellows are provided with a personal study booth, a personal computer, and access to the IDE library.

The Institute, however, does not provide any financial support such as travel expenses, living expenses or research expenses to foreign visiting research fellows.

Acceptance of Interns from Abroad

The IDE accepts interns from abroad, at the request of foreign research and educational institutions. However, we do not provide any salaries, stipends, or honoraria to such interns.
